We will give you the advice you need to best operate your business, reduce your taxes, improve cash flows, and manage debt, etc. even if it means we will not earn as much as we could from you in the future. An example of this is the decision to set a qualified client up on QuickBooks® rather than recommending they come to us for all of their day to day bookkeeping needs.
Service Some firms like to set their clients up so they have to come to them for everything and inhibit their ability to leave. Rather than promote indentured servitude from our clients, we believe in keeping them happy through unparalleled customer service. Our clients are not tied into us. We would not hassle anyone who decided to take their work somewhere else. Consider the fact that many of our clients have been with the firm for over 20 years and you’ll have a good idea of the level of service we offer.
Independence In addition to tying clients in for accounting services, some firms are now offering brokerage, insurance and legal services along with accounting services. This allows them to become like a Wal-mart® in the Accounting industry. The idea is simple enough – You can go to one place and get everything you need: Investments, Insurance, Legal Services and Accounting Services. However, there is a downside to this convenience:
How can you get independent advice when the accountant’s profit is based upon the commissions from the product they sell you?
This wouldn’t be an issue if the products all paid equal commissions, but they don’t so our advice to these services is “Buyer Beware!” We do not charge contingency fees or earn commissions from products we sell. We have a solid network of professionals we can refer you to for good investment, insurance and legal services. We merely serve you as a guide to give you a second opinion and make sure you’ve considered all of your options. You can be confident that we are giving you completely independent advice.
Accuracy We guarantee our work just like most other firms. The difference is we are so confident we have done your work correctly that we are willing to pay the penalties and credit you toward future services for the interest due associated with any error we make. In addition, we are amazed by the number of firms and tax services who merely take your numbers and put them on a financial statement or tax return, no questions asked. We will ask questions, guaranteed, because we know it is extremely unlikely for someone to initially submit all of the information necessary to complete a perfect financial statement or tax return. If a client was that perfect they wouldn’t waste their money hiring a professional. In addition to asking for information, we will also take the time to ask you questions that ensure you have a clear understanding of your financial and tax picture and whether there are things you should be doing differently.
Appreciation Sure all firms say they appreciate their client’s business and we appreciate our client’s business and their referrals too. In fact, we believe actions speak louder than words so, to show our appreciation, we give our clients a $25 credit toward their accounting services for each successful client referral we receive. It is our way of going beyond just saying “Thank You.” |
